Forcite wins 2022 Good Design Award for Product Design

The team at Forcite are thrilled to announce that the Forcite MK1S has won the Good Design Award Best in Class for product design in recognition for outstanding design and innovation.

The Australian Good Design Awards is the country’s oldest and most prestigious international award for design and innovation, with a proud history dating back to 1958. Each year, the Awards celebrate the best new products and services on the Australian and international market, excellence.

Forcite is proud to have created a motorcycle helmet that meets the high standards of the Good Design Award criteria and addresses a real need for rider safety and connected riding experiences.

Forcite Head of Design collected the award and thanked the team behind the innovative motorcycling technology.

“It's been an insane seven years since starting Forcite Helmets with my Co-founder, Alfred Boyadgis, and it's humbling to receive this Good Design Award as recognition. I am grateful for all the support and incredible dedication shown by the team behind the Forcite MK1S.”

The 2022 Good Design Awards attracted high-quality design projects from Australia and around the world. These innovative projects were evaluated by more than 70 Australian and international jurors, including designers, engineers, architects and thought leaders. Each entry was evaluated according to a strict set of design evaluation criteria which includes Good Design, Design Innovation and Design Impact.

The Good Design Awards Jury commented on the Forcite MK1S, saying, “The story behind the Forcite is one of those fantastic design stories where a concept that began through a sheer accident is evolved.

Following a motorbike accident, its founder utilised the age-old design idiom of ‘there must be a better way’ to create a simple yet fantastic solution for today’s riders.

The Forcite MK1S is a ‘smart’ helmet that integrates a heads-up peripheral LED display system linked to navigation and with hazard warnings, Bluetooth connectivity, and on-demand or continual video recording functionality. Yet it weighs less than some racing helmets and is ECE certified.

Its single-piece front-mounted camera/dual mic integration is a real innovation; sustainability cred is upped with a program to replace and recycle tech and shell after an accident. Its community-based trials demonstrate social and financial sustainability. The Forcite MK1S ticked every box for this panel.”

At heart, Forcite is just a team of motorcyclists who’ve created the advanced riding experience we always wanted for ourselves.

Forcite CEO and Co-Founder Alfred Boyadgis say that when developing the Forcite MK1S, the team worked alongside the Aussie riding community to identify a few non-negotiables. One of which is that it needs to look the part as much as being an authentic smart helmet.

“Over the years, we’ve seen all sorts of smart helmet concepts come and go with vapour wear designs and over-ambitious technology offerings, featuring varying levels of certification (or lack thereof). So it was important to us that we maintained sleek and conventional lines and proportions in our design not only to be the best looking smart helmet on the market but also one that behaves as it should in the event of an accident.

Thanks to working with our community of Forcite Test Pilots, our design engineers could hone in on what tech riders wanted and what technology could keep them safe. The result is a compact, lightweight, ECE-certified shell that looks right at home across various riding styles.”

The Forcite MK1S not only looks great but is also packed full of technology that is seamlessly integrated and that riders actually want.

Forcite design engineers have safely placed an HD camera in the chin to record everything on the road or trail. While Harmon Kardon speakers give a premium audio experience as you listen to your favourite tracks. The cherry on the cake is our patented LED peripheral vision light display that pairs with our Forcite app to give riders road alerts, navigation and speed camera warnings.

The Good Design Award is an internationally recognised symbol of design excellence, and we are honoured to have our work recognised in this way. A special thank you to our community of riders, and we look forward to inventing even better technology in the future.
